Over Christmas I installed some Kooks long tube headers. They are 1 3/4" and included high-flow cats and an x-pipe. the whole system ends at the axle-back where I still have the stock mufflers. Even though the stock muffs are pretty quiet, I can finally hear the car running when standing behind it :) Its got a nice rumble now. I had previously purchased Kooks axle-back mufflers and they sounded terrible with the rest of the stock exhaust and drones bad too. Kooks released a version 2 of the muffs and a few others were able to trade their v1 for v2 and have reported much better sound and very little if any drone. I am in the process of getting mine swapped for v2 as well.

So, I updated the site. New layout, new graphics. I think it looks much better now. I have also updated the photo gallery with the rest of the GTO pics as well as some G8 pics. I added a non-specific gallery where I'll toss up some random pics when I can. I also added some links to sites I frequent. Enjoy!

The site is slowing getting re-populated with info from the move. All the GN pics are up in the gallery. Some of the GTO pics are as well. I ran into a snag with the newest pics because they are from my new camera and are too large for the gallery to process so I need to resize them locally before uploading. All the GN and GTO updates are back up. I actually have a new post in the GTO section!

And no, the logo with the film reel and power6 is not final Wink

Car Change-up PDF Print E-mail

Well, some changes have occurred here in my car stable. The Grand Prix GTP was sold to a friend of mine who needed a vehicle to replace his truck he turned back in after lease. That happened in mid-july. I kinda miss the car but not too much. I started driving the GTO daily but it developed a vibration problem. I tried all kinds of things to fix it without success. I also missed having a large trunk and the ability to easily carry people in the backseat. All of this combined with the employee pricing GM was offering on cars, I traded the GTO in for a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT. Yes, the goat is gone Frown  I miss the car quite a bit but I also really like the G8. I got the dealer to pay off what I owed on the GTO so no upside down loan rollover to the G8. I took my Beyern 5 wheels off before trading in so I still have those. They will fit the G8 but I have not put them on yet to see how they look on the car.

So, what's the G8 all about? Well, its built on the new Zeta platform (same as the new Camaro, more or less). It's rear wheel drive, has a 6.0L V8 and a 6spd automatic. Mine is White Hot. It has all options except the sport package which was just 19" wheels and machined gas/brake pedals. Almost to 1k miles already. I'll get some pics up soon.

I guess I didn't update this at all last year. Below is what has changed.

  • Beyrn 5 wheels. 18x9 all the way around. Pirelli PZero Nero tires.
  • Pedders 1" drop front springs
  • Pedders 1/2" drop rear springs
  • Pedders Comfort Gas struts
  • Pedders Comfort Gas shocks
  • Pedders strut mounts.
  • Pedders front radius rod bushings.

All but the radius rods were done in early to mid 2007. Long story short, I got screwed by Rocksand Racing. They sent the wrong parts. I called and said I would keep them if they refunded me the difference. Never happened. My strut bearings got lost by UPS. I never got replacements or a refund. Frank Beck at Rocksand Racing is nothing but a thief. Stay away!!!

My next Pedders purchase, the radius rod bushings, was from Wretched Motorsports. Much better experience with them. Highly recommended.

My GTO is soon to become my daily driver as I'm about to sell my GTP. I think I may swap the front springs for the Pedders 3/8" drop up front. A little extra ground clearance I think will help.
